// Release Notes for the Martin-Quinn Scores 2015 Term Release
// 8/9/2016

With the recent release of the legacy Supreme Court Database (from
1791-1945) we have rebuilt all of the data files used to estimate the
Martin-Quinn scores. Prior to this release, we had been using data
from the legacy Spaeth database, some data collected for other
purposes for 1937-1941, and adding data for each subsequent term from
the modern Supreme Court Database. In this release we have rebuilt
all of the data files using the latest version of the modern (2016
Release 01) and legacy (SCDB Legacy 03) versions of the Supreme Court
Database from http://supremecourtdatabase.org. The resulting data
file used to fit the model is now available on our replication page.

Because various errors were found and corrected between the legacy
Spaeth database and the modern Supreme Court Database, some slight
changes have emerge for some justices between this release and
previous releases. All justices now receive a score so long as they
participated in at least one case in a term.
